Disappointed

Bought the ithlete and accompanying chest strap and wireless receiver for a total of $85. I had high expectations based off the cost as well as the generally positive (though few in number) reviews on the App Store. Overall I have not been satisfied in the investment. The chest strap gives inconsistent readings at best, and often doesnt pick up a pulse at all. I still do not get consistent pulse or HRV readings, even after troubleshooting and contacting customer service and following their advice. If you really want to monitor HRV, you will have to invest more in a more established brand - ultimately, you get what you pay for, in this case wasted $85. I am currently seeking a refund.

Awesome update!!

The new calibration before you take the test seems to have really improved the consistency of the readings!! Ill update the review again in a month but I can tell already! Love that you can add in your TRIMP scores it really helps to see if there is a correlation between HRV and the intensity of your previous workout.

Useless

*************This still doesnt work after 03/12 update!!!!!!!************ Readings are still all over the place!!!!! Still want a refund!!!!! Total let down. I was totally pumped to start using ithlete. Ive been using a digifit heart rate monitor for over a year and i wanted to add HRV monitoring. I wanted a tool to make things easier, this product is aggravating.... The readings are all over the place. I ceased training to establish the baseline.....for me to not train for a few days is a BIG deal as training is my passion, but i did it because i believed the progress this product would help achieve was worth it! Wrong! I cant get a consistant reading from this thing.... Its so random theres no way i can trust this thing to guide me with my training. I got a ton of amazing sleep and that morning my rating got worse.... I contact support and they want me to take readings while sitting periodically throughout my day and send them the results.... It feels like I paid $85 to test this product for them, when these bugs should have been resolved before marketing this product as a simple plug and play tool. Refund please!

Great training tool!

I have been using ithlete for almost a year now. It gives me the essential feedback I need to make adjustments in my training. I am a long track ice speed skater. I cross train using weights, bike, slide board, yoga, swimming, and of course skating. ithlete helps me balance all of my training so I can know when to go hard or back off and rest. Thanks for the essential training tool!

Does not work with Polar Bluetooth heart rate monitor

All other apps sees it, but not this one. Will be requesting a refund.

slow, inconsistent, buggy

The premise is great, and HRV is certainly useful--but dont pay these guys $60 for the receiver, on top of $10 for the app. The app may or may not connect to the receiver, and you may or may not get readings, and it may or may not stop working in the middle of a reading. Its hard to say why exactly it doesnt work all the time, but its flawed enough to make this seriously over-priced and thus not worth it.

Works Perfect w/ Polar H7 Monitor

I have an iPhone 5 and a Polar H7 heart rate monitor and this app works great! I would definitely recommend this app to anyone looking to monitor their HRV for training! Thanks for the update to include the Bluetooth Smart straps, ithlete!

Works with Bluetooth

I tested the app last night with a Polar H7 bluetooth transmitter and it works great. I have to admit it took me a minute to find the option to turn bluetooth on in the app (it is under edit), but once i did, it paired up right away. No more worries about whether the dongle will fit through my case! Thanks!

Does Not Function With Polar A7

In spite of what the 2.2 reviews say and what the website blog promotes this will not function with the Polar A7 chest strap. My strap pairs with the Polar Beat App but not the iathlete App. Save your money until they update.

Works with polar H7

Worked perfectly with my polar H7 and iPhone 5. Daily measurements only takes 60 seconds and seem accurate when I repeat the measurements a few times. Please update the app to fill the iPhone 5 screen :)

Works as advertised

I received my HRM well ahead of the 10 day estimated arrival. The app works as described. After 2 full months of use I am impressed with the value of ithlete and whole-heartedly recommend it.

Whoa… the improvements

I have been a relatively long term user of Ithlete. since 2012. The latest enhancements make it much more reliable and consistent. I personally had many readings problems over the course of time… but the newest approached are much more stable and reliable. At this point, my usage should significantly increase. I also praise the other input approaches, especially the Bluetooth Smart. I have the Polar H7 and it worked the first time without incident. Impressed. Very favorably impressed. Kudos to HRV Fit Ltd.

Could you please add ANT+ support

App should support the ANT+ standard.

Love this app!

The signals for upper and lower range you set work well. This then enables me to train “slower” because Ive found a major problem (poor aerobic function), which I now have the challenge to correct. You’re not only going to be faster (at the same heart rate), but more fit (to race better) and healthier. Excerpt From: Dr. Philip Maffetone. “The Big Book of Endurance Training"

Endurance Fitness Tool

Great way to track metabolic fitness level so you can avoid over-training for endurance sports. Only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that it can take minutes before connecting with the HR sensor. My other app training tools which use the HR sensor can all connect/pair in less than 60 seconds.

iThlete

This product is a complete scam. Do not buy it! All it does is take your pulse when you ask it to. That is all. It is not a monitor. It is takes your pulse and then asks you a few questions about how you feel at the time. A complete farce! The app is a joke and the device is a scam. If you buy this, you have lost your money. It does not DO anything at all. Dont say you havent been warned!!!

Unable to pair H7

On ios8.0.2. Iphone 5. H7 is not detected. Polar app picks it up fine. Please fix.

100% failure - complete waste of money

The app connects to your Bluetooth heart rate monitor and you start a 55 second Heart Rate Variability scan. During the scan, the app fails, loses connection to the heart rate monitor, 100% of the time. It fails 35 seconds in most often, then 45 seconds in. When it fails you must start over, and after 4 weeks I have yet to success get a scan. I have followed all of ithletes suggestions, including importing the heart rate monitor from the UK that they recommend. My skin under the pads has been dry, with the gel, with water, with water and salts, pre workout, post-workout and the app fails every time. Ive written in for support and zero response. In summary; - app doesnt perform the one task it advertises - support is non-existent - waste of $10 - waste of my time.

Please fix

This worked great until the latest update. Please fix it. This app along with the precision pulse app do not recognize the sensor and it shows to be connected to the phone.

Pairing fixed (was Tracking stopped)

Update: Got it back to working... Key for me was NOT to have the H7 as a Bluetooth device (My devices in iPhone settings). For some reason iThlete now can always pick up the H7 when I have deliberately not paired it with my phone. Previous review: Was somehow able to measure my HRV for first two days - then for last two days ithlete does not pick up my Polar H7 whatever I do (uninstall/reinstall, wet, clean, conduction gel). Other HRV apps read HR fine. Frustrating!
